“What we most need is the prayer of fervent desire for growth in grace,
expressed in patience, meekness, love, and good deeds”.
Our Prayer Teams
Christian Science puts great emphasis on prayer and healing and one avenue in which our church reaches out with prayer is through our four prayer teams. Mary Baker Eddy says in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “Prayer, watching, and working, combined with self‐immolation, are God’s gracious means for accomplishing whatever has been successfully done for the Christianization and health of mankind.” Mrs. Eddy knew Christian Science treatment, scientific prayer, to be powerful, effective, immediate, and demonstrable; prayer that gets results, prayer that heals.
Each of our four Prayer Teams has a very specific focus and works to support our church, our community, and the world, bringing the Christ truth to bear upon receptive hearts and minds everywhere.,
Praying for Members/Guests
The members and guests prayer team works to embrace our dear members, friends, and visitors in a spiritual atmosphere of pure brotherly love and peace. This team works prayerfully to focus the light of the Christ Truth in seeing all as Christ beheld everyone, as God’s precious, perfect and loved children.
Praying for our Services
This team works to support all of our services and outreach activities through consecrated and heartfelt prayer. Supporting our church activities in their mission to embrace the world in unconditional divine love, is a daily impetus of this team and a joy.
Praying for Sunday School
The Sunday school prayer team works prayerfully to include and cherish all the children of the world in a warm glow of sweet purity and love. This prayerful hug includes our precious children and young adults that regularly attend our Christian Science Sunday school, as well as, those who are learning about God’s love anywhere in the world.
Praying for the World
This prayer team works daily for all of Christianity in its loving outreach to mankind. It also prays to support specifically the Christian Science movement and its mission to uplift world thought to the realization and understanding of the pure goodness of our infinite Father, Mother God. These prayers include the recognition of the precious nature of every child, man, and women as God’s beloved children.
It is our consecrated hope that this powerful effectual approach to prayer will uplift individual and world thought to the spiritual view that heals. It is also our trust that this example of devotion to prayer will gently point us all to the importance of turning quickly to scientific prayer as taught in Christian Science, actively utilizing it, daily exercising it, patiently practicing it, and confidently employing it until we can heal consistently with it. Mrs. Eddy says further, “Prayer cannot change the Science of being, but it tends to bring us into harmony with it.” Our prayer teams are daily working to demonstrate this harmony and to bring it to touch upon world thought. Our prayers are a step toward attaining this spiritual vista, this Christ view, the promise of, “as in heaven, so on earth, ‐ God is omnipotent, supreme” If you are new to Christian Science treatment or the specifics of scientific prayer as taught in Christian Science, we highly recommend looking into Primary Class instruction from an authorized Teacher of Christian Science. .
