Christian Science Monitor

Discussion Groups

It’s BACK!! The Christian Science Monitor Discussion Group resumes on Wednesday, September 9th at 1:00 p.m. in the Garden Room.  Our article is found in The Monitor’s print edition dated September 7, 2026 on pages 12-17 and entitled “Unlike anything on Earth, a proposed mega data center by the dwindling Great Salt Lake sparks a backlash” by Story Hinckley, Staff Writer, with striking photos by Melanie Stetson Freeman, Staff Photographer.  Some may remember an article we read in March of 2025 about data centers and electric power demands in rural Maryland.  Now, eighteen months later, let’s jump thousands of miles west to Utah and examine current data center opposition with a meaty discussion about agency, fairness, and accountability.”
